SONY: Activision partners with PlayStation for Call of Duty: Black Ops III

After years of being partnered with Xbox, and being shown off on-stage at its E3 conference, Call of Duty has defected to PlayStation.

Mark Lamia from Treyarch showed off the latest entry in the series, Black Ops III, at Sony’s media briefing.

Lamia showed footage from the game’s campaign, featuring four-player co-operative elements. On display was some of the new tech-heavy focus for the title, including mech robots.

In addition, the Black Ops III’s multiplayer was shown on stage.

The signs were there during Xbox’s press conference earlier today when Call of Duty was conspicuously absent. Whether Xbox ditched the blockbuster franchise or PlayStation poached it from its rival is yet to be seen.

PlayStation owners will received additional DLC map pack content earlier, and will have exclusive access to the game’s beta this August.
