The MCV Women in Games Awards returns for a 5th year running on Friday June 28th. Following on from last year’s brilliantly-received event, we’re once again working in partnership with Facebook on the awards, with the company hosting us once again at their London office.
Facebook has proved to be a natural partner for the event, as it supports the company’s myriad of home-grown efforts to promote women in gaming (plus it has a top-notch, central London venue with some very tasty catering indeed!) Simply put, the event wouldn’t be the same without the company’s support, helping us keep it free-to-attend for all our finalists and their guests.
Aoife Brodigan, head of global business marketing for gaming, told us: “Of the 2.4 billion people playing games today, almost half are women. As the games industry continues to grow, businesses and brands are recognising the importance of building diverse teams to create great games. At Facebook, we are working on initiatives like ‘Women in Gaming’ and #shetalksgames to share stories and partner with others to build a more diverse and inclusive gaming community for everyone.
“We are delighted to partner with MCV in hosting the Women in Games Awards at our London office. It’s a fantastic opportunity to bring the UK video games industry together to celebrate the success of rising young stars and recognise women for their hard work, creativity and innovation. Women have an important role to play in this community and we hope this event continues to inspire more young talent to join this exciting and fast paced industry.”
You can now head to the MCV Women in Games Awards website for the 2019 shortlist and further details on the event. Tickets are limited unfortunately and attendance is by invite only.
