For the first time ever, Facebook will have a public presence at E3, the company has announced. Taking place between June 13th and 15th, the company will be hosting a public consumer activation in West Hall to celebrate Facebook’s worldwide gaming community.
Dubbed ‘Raise Your Game,’ Facebook’s E3 activation will encourage attendees to connect and share their E3 moments with the extended Facebook games community – a community that spans at least 800m active users each month. This includes 3D installations of Facebook imagery and the incorporation of augmented reality through the Facebook camera platform with specially-built E3 frames.
The company will also be integrating more video into its E3 presence this year with the creation of the Facebook LIVE Studio within its activation. Gaming personality Andrea Rene will join in a series of guests for the LIVE programming throughout the length of the show, ranging from developers, marketers and other special guests. Of course, this will all be streamed in the Facebook Gameroom and participating publisher’s pages for those unable to attend in person.
Facebook will also be present at Geoff Keighley’s E3 Coliseum event, where it will be taking questions from the worldwide gaming community.
That’s not all, either, as Facebook will also be launching a games tab within the Facebook video app for TV (available on Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and compatible Samsung Smart TVs and Android TVs), allowing viewers to like or follow their favourite games and publishers on Facebook, keep up to date with the latest news from the show floor, and search for specific games or gaming-related content creators.
Right now, there are over 800m people who play at least one Facebook-connected game every month, and in the month of April alone, 36m people posted, liked, commented or shared gaming content. Facebook has also told MCV that more than 30m people have connected their Facebook account to their PlayStation Network and Xbox Live accounts.
"We’re excited to see how the E3 conversation plays out on Facebook," Facebook said in a statement. "You can expect to receive an update on E3 topics that are trending on the platform during the show and from the press conferences. Beyond that, we’re focused on delivering value through our consumer space."
