Far Cry 5 release date confirmed for February 27th 2018

Far Cry 5 will be arriving on PS4, Xbox One and PC on February 27th 2018, Ubisoft has confirmed, and will include support for both the PS4 Pro and Project Scorpio.

For the first time in the series, Far Cry 5 will take players in the depths of rural America, where they’ll be able to tackle missions on their own, or play the entire game in two-player co-op.

Players take on the role of a junior deputy in the fictional region of Hope County, Montana, and it’s up to them to stop the rise of a fanatical doomsday cult from taking over the county.

Vehicles will also play a major role in Far Cry 5, with planes, muscle cars, rigs, ATVs and boats all on hand to help players get around and take on the cult’s forces. As usual, animals can also be used in combat, although don’t expect its menagerie to be quite as exotic as previous entries in the Far Cry series.

Players will, however, be able to hire animals, including bears and cougars, to accompany them on their journey as ‘fangs for hire’, as well as human companions as ‘guns for hire.’

The map editor will also be making a return, giving the game plenty of longevity past the initial campaign. Ubisoft has also confirmed the map editor will include new features in Far Cry 5 that "add a new dimension to the content created by fans", but we’ll have to wait until more details are announced in the coming weeks and months to find out more about it.
