Price cuts on FIFA 18 helped the title to come back at the top of the UK charts this week, with the Switch version leading the way. Sales for EA’s football hit were up 95 per cent week-on-week, allowing the title to climb three places to No.1, with sales for the Switch version increasing an impressive 494 per cent week-on-week.
Deep Silver’s Kingdom Come: Deliverance had to settle for No.2 for its debut week, while the previous week’s No.1, Shadow of the Colossus, fell to No.7 with a 72 per cent drop in sales.
FIFA was not the only title to benefit from promotions, as Grand Theft Auto V also saw its sales surge 113 per cent thanks to price drops, gaining two stops to No.3.
After impressive launch sales, Monster Hunter World kept selling well, charting at No.4 this week with a 23 per cent decrease in sales.
Meanwhile, Bayonetta 2’s Switch version debuted at No.2 – its highest position ever, GfK said, as the Wii U version entered the charts at No.7 back in 2014. However, the Wii U version had better Week One sales, despite ranking lower in the charts. Sales for the Switch version were down 25 per cent compared to the Wii U version. Meanwhile, in the Switch’s digital charts, Bayonetta 1 currently sits at No.1, while Bayonetta 2 landed at No.12. It’s unclear whether digital codes bundled with physical copies of Bayonetta 2 contributed to Bayonetta 1’s digital success.
Other new entries in the charts this week included Koei Tecmo’s Dynasty Warriors 9, which debuted at No.13, Square Enix’s remaster of 1993’s Secret of Mana for PS4, which entered the charts at No.24, and Milestone’s Monster Energy Supercross that debuted at No.25.
GfK also noted that the “Half Term effect” led to 28 titles in the charts increasing their sales week-on-week.
