Games 5s is next week – last chance to register

Time is running out if you want to challenge the likes of Sports Interactive, Twitch, Ubisoft, Rockstar Games, GreenManGaming, and 2K Games at next week’s MCV Games 5s.

Most of the team spaces for next month’s games industry five-a-side competition are spoken for but there are a few slots left.

Just in time for the World Cup, the MCV Games 5s will pitch publishers, developers and retailers against each other on Tuesday, June 24th. The event is supported by headline sponsor PlayStation.

Teams confirmed so far include:Rockstar Games,Green Man Gaming,Twitch,Sports Interactive,2K Games,Testology,Team PlayStation,PlayStation UK,Ubisoft,Freedman International,Sega,GAME(with teams from both its head office and its social media group),Attention Seekers,Xbox,Koch Media,Creative Assembly,Activision,Natural Motion,Splash Damage, andMudvark.

MCV is also entering a team, but let’s be honest, we’re already done for.

Replica World Cup trophies and Sony prizes are up for grabs for those taking part – plus bragging rights of having beaten your peers at the beautiful game, of course.

Game 5s’ after party will include the prize ceremony and then a screening of the England vs Costa Rica group match, which takes place on the same day.

Games 5s takes place at Barnet Power League football grounds in North London, with kick off at midday (registration 11am) followed by the awards ceremony, a barbecue, then the match screening in the bar.

It costs 499 per team to take part – that includes entry to the day’s competition for a team of up to seven players, soft drink during the day, food after the tournament, plus drinks tokens to redeem at the bar during the World Cup match screening. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to GamesAid after the event.
