GMA 2011: Rock, Paper, Shotgun wins best blog prize

PC-focused site Rock, Paper, Shotgun took home the accolade of best Games Blog from last night’s Games Media Awards.

The hugely popular blog was launched in 2007 and enjoys a monthly readership of more than 1m users.

It was founded by industry veterans Kieron Gillen, Jim Rossignol, John Walker and Alec Meer, with the latter taking to the stage to collect the team’s prize.

Rock, Paper, Shotgun beat a variety of other popular nominees, including VG247, GameSpot UK’s London Calling, Ready Up and XboxGameZone.

The Games Media Awards are hosted every year by Intent Media, the publisher of leading trade publications MCV and Develop.

Grainger Games was headline sponsor. Trion Games sponsored the pre-event party, and Namco Bandai sponsored the after-party, during which Rockaoke was presented by We Sing (Nordic Games).

Gold partners were Xbox 360 (Microsoft), Codemasters, Battlefield 3 (EA), PS Vita (Sony), Ubisoft, Super Mario (Nintendo) and OnLive.

Silver partners were Namco Bandai and Capcom (sponsors of the after-party), Trio Worlds (pre-drinks event sponsor), Gamescom and We Sing (Nordic Games) which sponsored the after-event bandaoke.

PES 2012 (Konami), Sonic Generations (Sega), NC Soft, Rising Star Games, Green Man Gaming, The Games Tribe, The Darkness II (2K Games) and Venatus Media each sponsored individual awards.
