Halo will feature Natal when it makes sense

Microsoft has reassured fans that it won’t be shoehorning Natal functionality into Halo games any time soon.

Speaking to VideoGamer.com, Halo 3: ODST producer Alex Cutting stated the company would only include its highly anticipated full body motion control technology in its hardcore FPS series when it became relevant.

A lot of people are interested in what Natal’s presence in Halo is going to be,” he said. We are committing to only doing it when it makes sense. We are not going to produce a gimmicky feature that just takes advantage of motion controls when it doesn’t feel right.”

Cutting declined to discuss any specific plans” but assured fans the company would be investigating any opportunities the technology presents. He added that his was confident Natal could be used in a first-person shooter.

I think Natal can be integrated into most genres in some way,” he said. I think FPS, there’s a lot to be said for dual stick control. Before dual sticks came around and before Halo: Combat Evolved established it on a console, people were pretty doubtful that it could ever move from keyboard and mouse.”
