Heavy Rain sales hit 1.5m worldwide

Heavy Rain has smashed Sony’s sales expectations by shifting 1.5 million units worldwide, says developer David Cage.

Speaking at GDC Europe in Cologne, the Quantic Dream founder said the title would sell 2m units before the year is up.

Back in April, Cage predicted the game would only sell 1.5m copies in total.

The achievement is all the more remarkable as Heavy Rain has held its RRP since its launch, he told the audience. He went on to add that the average review score for Heavy Rain – based on almost 500 reviews – is at over 90, which was key to the game’s long-term success.

Metacritic currently has the game at 87, based on 107 reviews.
