Joining the team officially mid-April, Betts brings over three decades of industry experience to the Leeds studio. This marks a strategic move to bolster JAW’s production capabilities during a period of growth.
Betts joins Just Add Water following a distinguished five-year tenure at Bandai Namco, where he served as a Publishing Producer for Supermassive Games’ critically acclaimed Dark Pictures Anthology. With decades in the industry, he began his career at 16 with Ocean Software, and he worked on iconic franchises such as Wipeout HD and Formula 1 during his tenure at Sony.
As the studio continues to evolve, Betts will work closely with the leadership team and mentor a new generation of talent.
“Gareth’s arrival is a significant milestone for us,” says JAW CEO Viktorya Hollings. “His experience across both internal development and external publishing gives him a unique perspective on how to deliver high-quality titles. As we look toward ‘ AA’ development, we’re pushing our current projects through major milestones, Gareth’s expertise is exactly what we need.”
Betts is already integrated into JAW’s Leeds studio under a hybrid model, focusing on upcoming milestones and the development of fresh IP. He places huge importance on the ‘human element’ in game development — a stance he maintains as the industry explores new technologies like AI.
“I’m incredibly excited to be part of such a young, energetic team,” said Gareth Betts, Senior Producer. “After years in large-scale publishing, returning to a focused, tight-knit studio feels right. It allows for better communication and faster creative evolution. We’re currently working on some very compelling projects, including new submissions to the UK Games Fund, and I’m eager to help steer them to completion.”
