Infogrames Gardner predicts stable fiscal year

CEO of Atari parent Infogrames David Gardner has said that the company is still on track for a ‘stable’ 2007–2008

FY fiscal performance – and that it doesn’t expect significant losses compared to its previous year.

The firm’s Q4 results are due on May 14

th

, but have taken a knock from the delayed release of Alone In The Dark – which has now been pushed back into the firm’s Q1 period for FY 2008-2009.

Despite the delay, however, Gardner forecast that Infograme’s full year results would not be much different” from last year.

When asked by Reuters whether he could confirm the group’s previously published goal to stabilise revenue in 2007/08, Gardner said:

"For the full business year, we are not announcing any different guidance. So it’s in the region. I would not expect a full year increase but I would not expect to be much different either from last fiscal year considering currencies and all that".

Gardner, who joined Infogrames in January, predicted that Alone In The Dark – which will be released on Wii, PS2, Xbox 360 and PC on June 20th in Europe and June 24th in the US – would sell between two and three million units worldwide in the firm’s new fiscal year.

He added: "We want to stop losing money…This management’s team number one goal is to get a business plan together that gets us to a break-even level."

He refused to commit to a specific timetable to these plans, saying that Infogrames was "reviewing a policy of whether to give targets to the market”.
