InnoGames increased revenue by 25 per cent in 2016

German mobile and browser game studio InnoGames increased its revenue by 25 per cent last year, taking it to a record high of €130m (around 112m), the company revealed today in its 2016 financial report.

In its mobile business, InnoGames beat last year’s revenue results by 68 per cent, stating that the highest ranking revenue markets for the company were the US, Germany and France.

The company says it also managed to increase the total number and play-time of its users last year by introducing in-game events and releasing new game content in existing titles such as Forge of Empires. It also grew the revenue of its first online game Tribal Wars, which is now six times higher than it was in 2007. The game was originally released fourteen years ago in 2003.

The company now has 150m registered players, with InnoGames stating that over half of all new registrations last year came from mobile devices. Players also spent around 600m hours in the company’s current live portfolio of six games over the course of 2016.

InnoGames CEO Hendrik Klindworth commented: Since we founded the company in 2007, InnoGames was able to profitably grow each and every year. 2016 has been the most successful year in our company’s history, with the results surpassing our own very ambitious goals. As InnoGames turns 10 this year, our focus is on our upcoming mobile-only titles and sustainable growth. All in all, we plan to fill 50 new job positions in our offices in Hamburg and Dsseldorf this year.”

InnoGames recently launched a new TV campaign in the US for Forge of Empires, using 30-second long CGI trailers with interchangeable ‘mini-spots’ for A/B testing. The company also recentlyappointed Funda Yakinas director of media and market development, who’s now in charge of the company’s strategic development of TV marketing and the expansion of direct media partner cooperation.
