JAPAN: Red Wii launches

A limited edition red Nintendo Wii will arrive in Japan next month to mark the 25th anniversary of Mario.

The bundle will include a Wii, Nunchuck, MotionPlus Remote and a copy of the original Super Mario Bros NES game pre-installed on the console’s hard drive. This will feature new touches such as coin blocks with ‘25′ marked on them.

Last month Nintendo celebrated Mario’s 25th anniversary with a marketing blitz consisting of a 90-second TV ad during Coronation Street, featuring appearances from Jonathan Ross, Ant and Dec, Diversity and Patrick Moore.

The Red Wii console pack is released in Japan on November 11th for YEN 20,000 (around 150). A European launch has not been confirmed.
