Kojima: Next game could be my last

Hideo Kojima has declared he may leave the industry if his next project fails to meet his expectations.

The veteran developer behind the Metal Gear series made his claims on his Twitter account, according to Andriasang, and suggests his forthcoming title could shake up the industry if done correctly.

The next project will challenge a certain type of taboo,” Kojima said. If I mess up, I’ll probably have to leave the industry.

However, I don’t want to pass by avoiding that. I turn 47 this year. It’s been 24 years since I started making games. Today, I got an ally who would happily support me in that risk. Although it’s just one person. For a start, it’s good.”

It is unclear whether he is talking about an unannounced project or Konami’s upcoming PSP exclusive, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, due for release in the UK on June 18th.
