Kotick: Im worried about EA/Take Two

Activision CEO Bobby Kotick has spoken of his concern over EA’s hostile acquisition bid for Take Two – particularly the mega-publisher’s potential sports potfolio.

If EA’s tender offer allows it to take over Take Two, it would own the successful – and critically lauded – 2K Sports range, alongside its own EA Sports slate.

Kotick told Reuters that he was concerned that EA’s $2 billion takeover bid could give it too much power in sports games.

"That’s concerning, sure,” he said. When you think about one company in control of the sports category, with no competition from anybody else, that could be a challenge.”

Kotick last month admitted that it was Activision, not Vivendi, that instigated the biggest deal in games history – when Activision Blizzard was formed.
