Kratos returns as Sony’s Days of Play sale dominates charts

God of War returns to the No.1 spot amidst heavy promotional activity as Sony’s Days of Play sale provides a boon to games across the charts.

God of War saw a 35 per cent growth in charts to hop from No.3 to No.1, while last week’s top game, Vampyr, drops to No.8.

Other games to feel the benefit include Sony’s Playstation VR Worlds, which saw a boost of 48 per cent to take it to No.5, but also titles like Assassin’s Creed Origins (a 61 per cent increase to take No.9) and Call of Duty: WWII which saw a 130 per cent increase in sales to reenter the Top Ten at No.10.

Another winner was Fallout 4, which is currently bundled up with both consoles, selling at a decent price by itself and no doubt buoyed by the unveiling of a semi-sequel, Fallout 76. It takes the No.3 slot after several weeks of solid performances.

No new titles have entered the Top 40 this week, although in line with the Days of Play promotion, several Sony titles have re-emerged throughout, including racing re-release Wipeout Omega Collection (No.28), Playlink quiz-em-‘up Knowledge is Power (No.29) and Naughty Dog’s Uncharted: The Lost Legacy (No.40)

This week will see the release of Mario Tennis Aces, which has a strong chance of taking the top spot, potentially helped by its proximity to Wimbledon. Is there much of a crossover between Wimbledon fans and Mario-loving Switch owners? I guess we’ll find out.
