Lego Worlds arrives on Steam as Early Access release

Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment has announced the launch of its Minecraft-like Lego Worlds on Steam Early Access.

The release confirms last week’s report that the publisher was investing in a new Lego title to compete in the sandbox building genre made famous by Mojang’s (and now Microsoft’s) Minecraft IP.

"Lego Worlds will be a fully open-world, creativity-driven game so we want to ensure that we provide it with the utmost care and attention as we expand on our ideas. So much of this game will be about building and sharing and by sharing our plans with the community, we hope to incorporate their feedback and build an experience together that fans of Lego and this genre of video games can enjoy,” reads the game’s Steam page.

The Early Access version is currently available for Windows PC. It allows players to explore and alter procedurally generated worlds, as well as build their own creations within the created spaces.

Lego Worlds aims to have a number of additional features implemented by official launch in 2016, including online multiplayer, character customization options and the ability to share in-game creations.
