MCV AWARDS 2014: GTA V scoops trio of prizes

The biggest game of 2013 won more industry accolades than any other title at this year’s MCV Awards.

Grand Theft Auto V ran away with the Sales Triumph prize after generating over $1bn in just its first 48 hours on sale before becoming the best-selling entertainment product in history.

It also paved the way for creator Rockstar North, which also saw success as it took home the Games Studio award.

Elsewhere, GTA V topped competition from some of last year’s biggest releases such as FIFA 14, The Last of Us, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Call of Duty: Ghosts to win the hotly contested Game Campaign prize.

The full list of winners can be found here.

Now entering its eleventh year, the MCV Awards recognise the UK video games industry’s finest and celebrate achievements across all its sectors, from retail, publishing and development, to distribution, media and service providers.

This year’s event is supported by bar and disco partner Xbite, trade launch partner EA, gold partner Future and Kotaku UK, event partners Curse, Green Man Gaming, GamesGrabr, Gamescom, Simply Games, Intergi, An.x and Think Tank, award partners Razer, IGN and OnLive, plus tablet gift partners OPM and Orb.
