GAME hires IGN’s Chambers as digital boss
IGN’s international director Ian Chambers is leaving the company to join GAME.

He will take the role of chief digital officer at the UK High Street chain at the end of July and will be responsible for the digital development of the business, overseeing marketing, online and business development.

We have made excellent progress over the last 12 months with our strategy to build the UK’s most valuable community of gamers and Ian will lead the next stage of our development as digital becomes the headline under which the rest of our business aligns,” said GAME?CEO Martyn Gibbs.

Chambers has been at IGN for the last three years and launched the brand in 11 territories.

Having worked in the games industry for more than a decade, this is an incredible opportunity for me, as I’ve long admired the GAME brand,” added Chambers.

GAME has made great strides into digital in the last 12 months and I’m looking forward to taking the business further. I will leave behind an experienced management team at IGN who continue the company’s aggressive growth curve in all corners of the globe.”

Hepworth to head new government joint venture
Activision’s former UK boss Peter Hepworth has accepted a job with the Government. He will head a new joint venture from the Cabinet Office and Capita to promote best management practice and accredited training organisations.

I am really looking forward to leading this exciting business,” Hepworth stated.

One of my priorities over the next few months will be to listen to and work with the practitioner communities, including accredited training organisations and examination institutes. Their input is vital as we work towards developing this new company and decide how best to take these world-class products to the next level.”

Hepworth formerly worked at Activision where he joined in 2006 and became UK MD in 2011. He departed from the company in January to pursue new career opportunities and will begin his new role from July 1st. The venture will become fully operational on January 1st 2014.

Jagex promotes CFO
Jagex CFO Riaan Hodgson has been promoted to COO at the company.Hodgson has served as CFO since 2008 and in the new role will be responsible for the strategy, business development, operations and commercial delivery of the studio.

His new responsibilities will also include looking after operational aspects of the firm’s service provisions for current titles as well as games in development.
