Easy-to-use tool provides space for contact details, developer history, images, videos and more

Free press kit creator opens up to game devs

Necrosoft has launched a new free and open source press kit creation tool for developers called differently.

The template was created by Shane Marks and is similar to Rami Ismail’s presskit(). It uses markdown rather than XML, which its creators claim gives users greater versatility when editing and modifying the content of a press kit.

The tool is hosted on Github here, and developers who come across any problems that aren’t listed in the wiki have been urged to create an issue.

Details presented on each press kit can include a fact sheet about the developer with contact details and web links, a description of the company, history, projects, videos and images.

You can see the general layout of differently here, and view Necrosoft’s own version here.

The team has offered some useful tips for those using its press kit creator:

For an alternate press kit template, you can also view Rami Ismail’s free presskit() 2.0 here.

Necrosoft was founded by former Game Developer Magazine editor-in-chief Brandon Sheffield in 2012. The studio has worked on projects such as Gunhouse and is currently developing Oh Deer! and Gunsport.
