Hotline Miami bags most nominations in 2013 Golden Joystick Awards

Future Publishing has opened voting for this year’s Golden Joystick Awards – and it’s indie smash hit Hotline Miami that could clean up.

The retro-style top down shooter has won nominations in six categories, including Game of the Year, Best Indie Game and Best Newcomer.

It outperforms all other games, with its closest rival The Last of Us, Halo 4 and Dishonored each earning five nominations.

The Golden Joystick Awards will return to the Westminster Park Plaza on Friday, October 25th, with comedian Ed Byrne hosting. Consumers can now vote for their favourite games at the awards’ official website.

New awards this year include Studio of the Year, Innovation of the Year and Best Storytelling.

"We’ve completely revamped the categories this year, to make them more relevant to gamers around the globe and to capture the excitement, innovation and diversity of gaming in 2013," said Future’s senior editor for the Games group.

"With the next-gen almost upon us, indie games exploding on all platforms, while PC and mobile gaming go from strength to strength, this year’s ceremony promises to be the most thrilling yet."
