Indie Games Collective to host ‘How To Sessions’

An anonymous group of indie developers and self-publishers named The Indie Games Collective has readied a new series of workshops and sessions in conjunction with UK trade body Ukie.

The How To Sessions kick off on September 6th at Ukie’s central London office, with a day of presentations, panels and seminars conceived to help games developers make their releases more commercially successful.

Speakers from Amazon, Microsoft, and Sony are set to take to the stage for the event, which is free-to-attend and open to all. Designed to be particularly relevant to indies and microstudios, the schedule hopes to deliver tangible take-aways and meaningful advice.

"I often wonder, so ‘How do I do that?’ and always wanted to find out more and share experiences with others," says Xiotex Studios founder Byron Atkinson-Jones and event co-organiser (pictured). "These ‘How to Sessions’ may go some way to sharing this knowledge and experience with other Indies and Micro Studios, if that happens we would have done some good.

"We are honoured to have the wonderful Shahid Kamal Ahmad from Sony along to share his insight and knowledge to all those who are supporting us, including Mastertronic and Remode Studios who are sponsoring the day and Ukie who are lending their wonderful meeting space."

“All Ukie members can use our Central London office space to put on events like this, for free, or they can just drop in to use our hotdesks, so we’re delighted to have The Indie Games Collective using our space for what’s going to be a very informative and interesting session," added Ukie CEO Jo Twist. "We’re here to support the UK’s developer community and we’re totally committed to doing further events with The Indie Game Collective to bring this and other events to developers around the country.“

Developers from Four Door Lemon, Remode Studios, Mastertronic, Hotsauce, AppyNation, Just Flight, Spilt Milk Studios and several others will use their time at the event to share insights into publishing, community building and funding, along with numerous other topics.

The debut ‘How to Session’ kicks off at 9.00am on Friday, September 6th at the offices of Ukie, concluding at 5pm.
