£1.8m boost turns Newcastle studio into digital publisher

Ferrari Challenge developer Eutechnyx will start publishing games after securing 1.8m in Government funding.

The Gateshead-based company has received investment of around 10m altogether.

The funding will be used primarily for Eutechnyx to publish their own games including free-to-play online racer and car community Auto Club Revolution. Additionally, the firm wants to provide the publishing infrastructure to get other studios’ games to market.

Eutechnyx’s publishing division will focus on digital publishing, although we’d never write off the possibility of retail releases,” Eutechnyx COO Darren Jobling told MCV.

A few industry veterans may remember that Eutechnyx started life as a publisher back in the late ‘80s, so this is a quantum leap for us.”

There will be up to 190 jobs created for marketing, licensing, logistic and development personnel.

It’s a changing world and opportunities have never been greater,” added Jobling. It feels like we’ve been working 20 years just to get to this point.”
