'Us and the Game Industry' makes $7k with three days left to reach $20k goal

Tall order for game documentary Kickstarter

A new documentary exploring the work and lives of games developers is struggling to meet funding goals on Kickstarter.

The film, called ‘Us and the Game Industry’, features insight from the likes of Jenova Chen (thatgamecompany), Daniel Cook (Spry Fox) and indie dev Jason Rohrer.

The new trailer has emerged weeks before a very similar game development documentary, called Indie Game: The Movie, won a Sundance Film Festival award and a standing ovation at a GDC screening.

However, Us and the Game Industry only has about 250 backers, together contributing less than $7,000.

Just three days remain for the crowdfunding project to reach its $20,000 goal. All funding will be lost if the target is not reached.

“Us and the Game Industry is a film about the new thinkers at the new frontier of experimental computer game development,” reads the new film’s blurb.

“We delve into this untapped world of potential to meet the people who are succeeding in reinventing the medium of game design and challenging the established norms with their finely crafted work.”

The documentary has been previewed on video sharing site Vimeo.
