Microsoft teams up with casual dev Arkadium

New York based casual and social games developer Arkadium has signed a strategic multi-year, multi-game partnership” with Xbox and Windows platform holder Microsoft.

The studio’s titles reach an audience of over 10m users each month on Facebook and other social gaming sites. It claims to have the largest Flash games library in the world.

"Arkadium has a ten-year track record of developing entertaining and well-architected casual and social games,” Microsoft Studios’ Matt Booty said.

Our team is excited to be partnering with a developer that we believe will help us entertain millions of people as we expand our reach to a broader audience."

This is just the latest development in Microsoft’s increasingly social-focused outlook.

Yesterday it confirmed that its upcoming simulator Microsoft Flight will be free-to-play with an increased emphasis of accessible controls and gameplay.
