Microsoft: Xbox One without Kinect "not going to happen"

Microsoft has ruled out the possibility of releasing the Xbox One console without the Kinect sensor bundled in.

Yesterday we speculated that since the Xbox One no longer required Kinect to be plugged in at all times, it could well pave the way for a cheaper Kinect-less SKU to rival the PlayStation 4.

Senior director of product management and planning at Microsoft Albert Penello posted on NeoGAF, If we were to remove Kinect from the bundle, then that would be a 180, but it’s not going to happen. This was a very minor policy change for people who had privacy concerns or repair issues.”
