Minecraft film producers in talks with Night at the Museum director – report

Night of the Museum director Shawn Levy is in talks to direct the film adaptation of Minecraft, according to a new report.

Deadline reports on the director/producer’s potential involvement in the upcoming Warner Bros and Mojang-produced movie, where he’ll join The Lego Movie producer Roy Lee.

In addition to Night at the Museum and its upcoming sequel, Levy has directed Bif Fat Liar, Just Married, Date Night and The Internship – with the report noting Levy’s talent at shaping high concepts into his films.

The project is still in the very early stages and isn’t expected to make its premiere until at least 2016.

Minecraft has sold more than 54m copies across all platforms to date.
