100,000 sign up for APB Reloaded

More than 100,000 people have registered to take part in the beta of APB Reloaded.

The figure was revealed by developer Reloaded Productions’ boss Bjorn Book-Larsson on the game’s official blog, who added that this has topped his team’s original expectations. The studio is aiming to launch the closed beta on February 28th.

He said: Well over a hundred thousand people have registered their interest in the beta thus far. [Assuming that] about half of everyone who initially signed up will activate the beta accounts, we will far exceeed the number of people we actually expected or even needed for the first closed beta.”

APB Reloaded is the revamped version of last year’s most troubled MMO, APB: All Points Bulletin. Originally released in June last year, the ambitious GTA-style MMO struggled to take off, leading to the closure of its developer Realtime Worlds in August.

The rights to the game were acquired in November by GamersFirst, which is currently working with Reloaded Productions to relaunch APB as a free-to-play title.
