Institution in Naples, Italy, will offer a specialised curriculum to teachers

Apple announces first European iOS Development Centre

Apple is opening an educational centre dedicated to training the next wave of iOS developers.

The European iOS Development Centre will be based in Naples, Italy. Apple estimates that more than over 75,000 jobs in Italy are directly attributable to the App Store’s presence in the region.

The Centre will support teachers by offering a specialised curriculum focusing on providing students with the practical skills and knowledge needed to develop for iOS.

Apple will also work with other partners across Italy to offer further training for the ‘thousands’ of students expected to take up the course.

Further details are yet to be revealed, but Apple expressed its plans to take the programme to other countries around the world in the future.

“Europe is home to some of the most creative developers in the world and we’re thrilled to be helping the next generation of entrepreneurs in Italy get the skills they need for success,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook.

“The phenomenal success of the App Store is one of the driving forces behind the more than 1.4 million jobs Apple has created in Europe and presents unlimited opportunities for people of all ages and businesses of all sizes across the continent.”
