Hardware giant reveals its answer to Microsoft's Surface Pro

Apple unveils 128 GB iPad

The latest incarnation of Apple’s iPad will have 128GB of storage space.

This comes as an answer to Microsoft’s Surface Pro tablet, which runs a full version of Windows 8 and offers a 128 GB edition.

"With more than 120 million iPads sold, it’s clear that customers around the world love their iPads, and every day they are finding more great reasons to work, learn and play on their iPads rather than their old PCs,” said Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing Philip Schiller.

“With twice the storage capacity and an unparalleled selection of over 300,000 native iPad apps, enterprises, educators and artists have even more reasons to use iPad for all their business and personal needs."

The new model features a 9.7-inch Retina display, Apple-designed A6X chip, FaceTime HD camera, and iOS 6.1.

The Wi-fi only 128 GB model is to be priced at $799, with the cellular and Wi-fi model running $929.
