Incumbent Peter Relan steps back to executive chairman of the board

Crowdstar promotes co-founder Jeffrey Tseng to CEO

US social games developer and publisher has promoted co-founder and GM of products Jeffrey Tseng to CEO.

Tseng replaces the outgoing Peter Relan, who has returned to his prior post of executive chairman on the board of directors.

The new CEO also joins the board with CrowdStar co-founder Suren Markosian and Tim Warner senior VP Rachel Lam.

“Jeffrey was instrumental in the company’s successful pivot to mobile social gaming,” said Relan.

“His four years at CrowdStar building free-to-play games, combined with his prior background at Sega building triple-A console games, make him the ideal choice for the next phase of the company’s growth in mobile.”

Tseng added: “I’m excited to lead CrowdStar into the next phase of growth on both domestic and global mobile platforms. I have an excellent management team and very supportive investors. We will be growing aggressively yet strategically in terms of capital raising and partnering.”

Based in California, Crowdstar has a number of high profile investors including Time Warner, Intel Capital and The9.

The social and mobile games developer has released games such as Happy Island, Happy Pets, It Girl and Zoo Paradise.
