King purchases data firm Omniata

Mobile giant King has acquired San Francisco-based data and analytics platform Omniata. The Candy Crush creator didn’t announce it publicly but confirmed the information to VentureBeat.

We can confirm we have acquired Omniata. It’s a great team and a proven platform that will add to King’s analytical and technology capabilities,” a spokesperson for King told GamesBeat. The amount of the transaction was not revealed.

Omniata was founded in 2014 by former staff from EA and Digital Chocolate, and also has an office in Helsinki, Finland. Since its inception, the company has worked for the likes of triple-A firms such as Rovio, Miniclip or Ubisoft, helping them to track their users engagement.

King has not revealed whether or not Omniata will continue to work with other firms.

The mobile developer is now owned by Activision Blizzard since a $5.9bn deal was sealed in early 2016. King’s latest mobile title is multiplayer card game Shuffle Cats, which launched last October.
