Mojang teases Minecraft Realms with update due by the end off May

Minecraft Pocket hits 10m downloads

The mobile and tablet edition of Minecraft has reached 10 million downloads worldwide.

“We are very happy to announce that Minecraft – Pocket Edition has sold more than 10 million copies as of yesterday,” said Mojang’s Daniel Kaplan.

“We are very thankful to all the support that we have gotten and people playing and talking about our game.”

Minecraft: Pocket Edition is a separate version to the PC edition, but Mojang have steady been working to bring the two editions closer together.

“We have been working hard on restructuring the backend of a lot of things for Minecraft – Pocket Edition to make future updates smoother,” said Kaplan, who and that the studio is working on Minecraft Realms, a cloud service that will let players play together in more unified manner.

It plans to release Minecraft realms in the coming months, but to begin with it will be rolling out a version, Pocket Realms, for its mobile game as a testing ground.

Minecraft Pocket had sold five million by early December 2012. The original PC version of the game also hit 10 million on April 4th this year, and currently stands at 10,342,337 sales.

Minecraft: Pocket Edition is available for iOS and Android platforms, launched in October 2011.
