BonusXP's Cavemania is Chinese publisher's first global title

Mobile publisher Yodo1 to hit Western markets

Chinese firm Yodo1 has revealed its plans to expand operations outside of its native country through the launch of a new publishing platform.

The mobile game publisher has spoken in the past about plans to move into Western markets, and the new announcement shows this initiative is to launch next month with BonusXP’s Cavemania.

"We’ve learned a lot about the China market to reach 50 million players in less than a year," said Yodo1 CEO Henry Fong.

"With a user growth run rate of over ten million new players per month, we’re eager to apply our knowledge and platform on a global level."

This first global title will be available in the U.S, Canada, Europe, South Korea, and Russia, but will only be the first of many third-party games to come to iOS and Android through the new social service.

The Dallas-based BonusXP team is made up of former Ensemble developers, and led by Dave Pottinger, John Evanon, and Jason Sallenbach.

"The whole Yodo1 team won us over by loving Cavemania as much as we do," said Pottinger.

"Henry and Jung share our ‘GAME COMES FIRST’ focus and made us feel like part of their family, which is all too rare in this business."

Yodo1 is using a similar approach to its Chinese operations by partnering with studios, acting as co-developer to optimise monetisation channels, handle app store submissions, share design, art, and programming resources, and use its marketing machine to promote new games.

The new platform includes the company’s ‘games-as-a-service’ community SDK Kryptanium, which gives developers the ability to harness discussion boards, screenshot sharing, notifications, rewards, and cross-promotion within the in-game experience to grow their userbase.
