But the studio's co-founder hopes for future partnerships

Newell: Apple CEO never visited Valve

Apple’s chief executive Tim Cook did not pay a visit to Valve’s Washington headquarters, according to the company’s managing director Gabe Newell.

Speaking on the back of a craze of speculation – including an article which claimed Valve and Apple were co-developing a games console – Newell said the whole episode had become inaccurate to the point of confusion.

"We actually, we all sent mail to each other, going, ‘who’s Tim Cook meeting with? Is he meeting with you? I’m not meeting with Tim Cook.’ So we’re… it’s one of those rumours that was stated so factually that we were actually confused," Newell said in an interview with Seven Day Cooldown.

But Newell does want a closer partnership with the richest company in the western world.

"We have a long list of things we’d love to see Apple do to support games and gaming better,” he said.

“But no, we didn’t meet with Tim Cook. He seems like a smart guy, but I’ve never actually met him."
