Paradox looking to build a mobile team around Nordström when he joins the company in January

Paradox brings King’s Kim Nordström on-board to lead Mobile initative

Paradox Interactive, the publisher behind strategy hits Crusader Kings II and Stellaris, have hired King Malmö general manager Kim Nordström to lead its new mobile gaming initiatives.

The Swedish company has generally been focussed on PC titles, and indeed its first steps in mobile is teaming up with external studios to develop mobile versions of its more popular franchises. This means we could see mobile versions of the titles Crusader Kings and Stellaris, but also titles like Cities: Skylines or Magicka.

Paradox plan to build an internal mobile team around Nordström once he takes up his role in January. Before King, Nordstorm has previously worked at SCEA, Bad Robot Sweden, MTG Modern Games and Southend Interactive.

“We have already initiated discussions with external studios to explore the possibility of building mobile versions of our franchises and are on the lookout for more studios as well as key talent to join Kim’s team once he starts in January next year,” said Fredrik Wester, CEO of Paradox Interactive in a statement. "At that point we will also start solidifying the plans for our best next steps in those areas. Kim has a great track record, but more importantly, an attitude and mindset that is the right fit for Paradox, and I am thrilled to welcome him onboard.”

Nordström was also enthusiastic about his new role: “I’m very happy to join the Paradox family and to be part of the great company culture I’ve heard so much about.

“I’m also very excited to be part of the innovation initiatives preparing the company for the future, and to lead the investments needed to enter the mobile market. Paradox has a great portfolio and a loyal fanbase, and that’s a great start to successfully enter the mobile market. What I need, starting from next year, is amazing talent and studios to work with, and I know Paradox and its partners will come through.”
