As Stockholm games outfit Snowprint Studios — pictured above back in 2015 — move into their second year of active game development, they’ve marked the date by announcing the formation of a new studio based in Berlin which will allow the company to grow and acquire veteran talent to the studio. This new studio is largely going to be staffed with industry veterans and aimed at mid-core games.
Their secret weapon as they put their new studio together is Wilhelm Österberg, who until recently was a head of studio at Wooga that was tasked with leading Wooga’s mid-core games initiative via their Black Anvil Studio. Österberg has joined Snowprint Studios as its general manager and as the managing director of this new Berlin studio. All 8 employees at the new studio are ex-Black Anvil, and previously worked with Österberg.
“Snowprint is about talented individuals coming together in tight-knit teams with a shared passion for creating great gaming experiences,” said Alexander Ekvall, Snowprint Studios CEO in an emailed statement. “To get this right is a rare thing, so when we saw the opportunity to form a studio around Wilhelm and the talented people he has been working with, we knew it would be the perfect added element for Snowprint’s ongoing journey as we continue to explore uncharted territory in the mid-core landscape.”

I’m proud to count my team among them,” added Österberg. “Snowprint is proving that there are different paths to explore within mid-core, making the category more accessible while delivering amazingly rich gaming experiences. The team at the Berlin studio is looking forward to joining them on that path.”
No details just yet on what Snowprint Studios is working on, but their first game, a role-playing title set in the realm of Norse mythology, is currently in active development.
