Twitch app heading to Xbox 360

Streaming video service Twitch is to get a dedicated app on Xbox 360.

It should come as no surprise that the app will only be available to Xbox Live Gold subscribers. In better news, it should go live today in the US. It’s not clear when it will arrive in the UK.

The Xbox version will offer access to 300 of the most popular streams from the service” according to Major Nelson. Users can view top channels by popularity or individual game and the dashboard features curated channels, tournaments and shows happening now.”

Twitch will also stream Microsoft’s May 21st press event in which the new Xbox will be unveiled.

In February Twitch hosted over 600,000 unique broadcasters that between them attracted 28m unique users. More impressively, each of these users watched an average of over 1.5 hours of video… every day.
