Middleware firm to help bring new Unity-developed titles to market

Unity enters mobile game publishing

Unity has revealed a new mobile game publishing program.

The company’s content syndication arm Unity Games (formerly Union) will run the new scheme, which aims to showcase titles developed through the Unity engine.

Unity is focusing on titles developed specifically for mobile platforms, and said it would use its extensive relationships in the industry to help bring games to market.

As well as providing technical and distribution support for titles, Unity Games will also help developers with monetisation, user acquisition, testing and analytics.

The first games to take advantage of the publishing program will be Roadhouse Interactive’s sports title FRS Ski Cross and Black Tower action-RPG Archangel.

Other developers such as Spark Plug Games, Electric Eggplant, Mimimi Productions and N-Fusion Interactive are also set to take advantage of the scheme in the next year

“We’ve worked hard over the years to create a technological canvas that allows developers of all sizes to realize their wildest creative visions,” said Unity CEO David Helgason.

“Now, thanks to our unique combination of developer trust, technological leadership, newly announced Unity Cloud services, and strong relationships with key distribution partners, Unity Games is in an awesome and unique position to make a hugely positive impact on the lives of game developers.”

The Unity Games arm was recently rebranded from Union, and was formed to help developers tap into new and emerging platforms such as Roku, Tizen and LG TV. These distribution partnerships are said to continue on as normal alongside the firm’s new publishing duties.
