Wargaming to open new Moscow office for mobile development

World of Tanks developer Wargaming is opening a new office in Moscow to focus on mobile games development.

The new studio follows Wargaming’s recent moves towards mobile gaming. In September, Wargaming announced it had taken over Danish studio Hapti.co and rebranded it to Wargaming Copenhagen. Earlier in the year, the developer also announced a deal with Epic Games’ Unreal Engine to create more free-to-play mobile games using UE4.

Heading up the new studio is Andrey Zimenko, who was recently head of mobile publishing for the WG Labs Wargaming Alliance free-to-play publishing portal, and was previously COO of mobile studio IT Territory, which was a part of Mail.Ru.

Moscow is one of the most significant centres for mobile game development in the world so we had to establish a presence here,” said Zimenko. “Our main objective, for now, is building a strong team capable of achieving the most ambitious goals. We welcome mobile game development professionals to join our ranks and share their most daring ideas with us.”

The publisher is currently looking for new staff for the Moscow office on its website.
