Moshi named best-selling kids’ mag

Moshi Monsters Magazine has become the best-selling children’s publication in the UK with a monthly circulation of 113,748.

The magazine was launched in February by Skyjack Publishing after it struck a deal with Moshi Monsters creator Mind Candy. It’s based on the popular online monster-collecting kids’ game which has 50m users worldwide.

ABC figures for the period between April 1st and June 30th also revealed that the magazine is currently the 70th best-selling print title in the UK. Each issue contains 52 pages and retails for 2.99.

Mind Candy’s co-editor of Moshi Monsters Magazine Emma Munro Smith said: It’s incredible to have become the best-selling children’s magazine in the UK and to have achieved such large numbers in a previously declining market. We’re delighted with the results and with the incredible feedback we get from our fans, and there’s still so much more to come.”

Co-editor of Moshi Monsters Magazine and MD of SkyJack Publishing Matt Yeo added: We’re successfully pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with children’s magazine publishing, and the results of what can be achieved with the right combination of talent, ideas and creativity have exceeded even our own expectations.”

The news comes after London toy store Hamleys announced it was heavily promoting the line of Moshi Monsters plush toys and collectibles.

A boxed DS Moshi Monsters game co-published by Activision will arrive at retail later this year.
