Namco Bandai sees profits rise

Japanese publisher Namco Bandai has revered the Y11.7bn loss seen in the quarter ending December 31st 2009 by reporting a profit of Y3.7bn for the same quarter in 2010.

For the nine months ending December 31st sales were up 1.8 per cent at Y288bn. Operating earnings were up 253 per cent at Y16.7bn.

Tekken 6 continued to be the most successful game for the company, shifting 1.08m units in the quarter. Other successes included PSP brawler God Eater Burst with sales of 460k units in Japan and Gundam Musou 3, which shifted 430k units.

Total unit sales hit 13.8m units, with PS3 emerging as the lead platform thanks to unit sales of 3.7m.
