New PS3 SKU propels hardware sales upwards

The arrival of the new ‘Super Slim’ PS3 has boosted sales of the console in the UK.

Despite offering no significant price cut, PS3 sales were up 138 per cent last week according to UKIE and GfK Chart-Track data.

The new 500GB machine accounted for 37 per cent of all PS3s sold for the week ending September 28th. And with the new machine releasing last Friday, that means it clocked the numbers in just two days.

A European-only 12GB Flash memory based SKU will be released in the UK on October 12th. It’s retailing for anything between 180 and 200.
