Now Netflix comes to Wii

Film rental service Netflix will arrive on Wii on January 9th.

The service arrived on both PS3 and Xbox 360 earlier this week. It costs 5.99 a month and is a new rival for Lovefilm, which this week reduced the price of its subscription to 4.99.

Netflix has been a partner of Nintendo of America for many years now and we are delighted to be able to extend the service to our fans from UK and Ireland,” Nintendo UK’s general manager and marketing director Dawn Paine stated.

I for one look forward to be able to view my favourite TV shows and films via my Wii.”

Netflix’s VP of business development Bill Holmes added: The Wii has been among the most popular devices used by Netflix members to enjoy unlimited TV shows and movies streaming over the Internet from Netflix on their TVs. We expect the Wii will be one of the most used devices to enjoy Netflix in the UK and Ireland and are delighted to offer this additional value to Wii users.”

It has also been confirmed that Netflix will be released on PlayStation Vita in the UK following its release on February 22nd.
