Nutter leaving Future as Gough named new games boss

Future has confirmed that Declan Gough is its new head of content and marketing for films, games and music.

As part of the change Edge has been moved back into Future’s games division, having previously been shifted out into ‘creative’. It also continues the merging of content and marketing duties as suggested in last week’s reshuffle.

Gough will take charge of all of the brands in this portfolio” with GamesRadar, Edge, MusicRadar, Guitarist, SFX and Total Film named specifically. CVG was not mentioned.

This means that current games boss Lee Nutter, who became group publisher for entertainment in January 2013, will leave the company at the end of September, MCV can reveal.

Also confirmed is the appointment of Nick Merritt as head of content and marketing for technology (TechRadar, T3, Gizmodo, Lifehacker, MacFormat) while Matthew Pierce becomes head of content and marketing for photography and creative.

Last week Future appointed former Future UK MD Nial Ferguson as its new director of content and marketing.

The Content & Marketing team are responsible for the creation and development of the award winning brands, audiences and market expertise within the games, technology, music, film, photography, creative & design verticals,” Future said.

Ferguson added: I am delighted to be able to announce these appointments as we continue the process of restructuring Future around content that connects with consumers and commercial partners.

We are coming to the end of our transformation process and the focus is now all about putting the exciting plans in place. I know that Nick, Declan and Matthew and their exceptionally talented teams will be able to achieve everything that is asked of them.”
