Paradox partners with Romero Games for all new strategy IP

Paradox Interactive has partnered with Romero Games for an unannounced strategy game. As yet the game has not been detailed, but Paradox has confirmed it will be an original IP.

Brenda Romero and John Romero are best-known for games like Doom, Quake, Jagged Alliance and Wizardry 8, and are said to be “bringing their decades of development expertise to this partnership with the strategy fanatics of Paradox Interactive”.

“We are thrilled to work with industry legends, Brenda and John Romero, whose games we’ve grown up playing ourselves and long admired,” said Ebba Ljungerud, CEO of Paradox Interactive. “At Paradox Interactive, we’ve built a reputation for top-tier strategy games and we’re employing that expertise to help build something really special with the team at Romero Games.”

“This has been a project we’ve been wanting to work on for a long time, so it’s especially exciting that we’ll be partnering with Paradox Interactive to fully realize that dream,” added Brenda Romero, Co-Founder of Romero Games. “We can’t wait to tell everyone more, so make sure you watch this space!”

Paradox Interactive has confirmed it has extended its partnership with Koch Media. The new agreement between the companies will see Koch Media publish Ages of Wonders Planetfall and Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2. Koch will also distribute the boxed version of Cities Skylines Switch worldwide, too.

Former executive vice president Rod Humble recently joined Paradox Interactive to lead new studio, Paradox Tectonic. Paradox Tectonic – which will operate in Berkeley, California – is “the newest member of the Stockholm-based publisher’s team of studios”. While the firm confirms the development of a brand-new game and IP is underway, full details will be announced at a later date.
