17 gaming benchmarks leaked for Radeon R9 290X

After the official publication of two benchmarks this morning, a leaked set of benches for the Radeon R9 290X for 17 games has now been published online.

Videocardz has the numbers for a range of titles including Battlefield 3, Borderlands 2, Crysis 3, Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon, Metro Last Light, Saints Row IV and Skyrim.

Again, these numbers are for 4K displays.

The 290X enjoys an advantage over the Nvidia GTX 780 in every single comparison, ranging from just four per cent in Splinter Cell: Blacklist to 35 per cent in Skyirm, 42 per cent in Max Payne 3 and a whopping 152 per cent in Sleeping Dogs.

The average performance boost offered by AMD’s card across the tests is 23.8 per cent.

There are other factors to be considered aside from raw FPS, of course. Temperature could yet emerge as a big issue, as could to a lesser extent noise and power consumption.

The most telling stat will likely prove to be price – and with everything pointing toward the 290X at worst matching the GTX 780 and quite likely undercutting it good times could well lay ahead for AMD.
