AMD will unveil new Fiji GPUs at E3

What AMD believes will be the next era of PC graphics cards will be unveiled on June 16th.

The company has confirmed that its new Fiji GPUs will be revealed at its ‘AMD Presents: The New Era of PC Gaming’ at E3, which takes place on the same day as AMD and PC Gamer’s ‘PC Gaming Show’ takes place.

It is known that the Fiji cards will use a new form of VRAM, dubbed High Bandwidth Memory. What models to expect or a timeframe for release remains to be seen.

AMD will need to readying something pretty special in light of Nvidia’s recent cards, however. Earlier this week its rival revealed the GTX 980 Ti, which virtually matches the performance of previous GPU leader the Titan X.

AMD has shown in the past that it’s happy to compete with Nvidia on price, but it will have to do the same in terms of performance if it hopes to win back some of its lost marketshare. Some punters may also need reassurances about its driver support and software offerings, too.
