EA announces single-player offline The Sims 4 that is definitely single player and offline

SimCity studio Maxis has revealed that The Sims 4 is in the works.

EA’s press release waits until only the second sentence to confirm that The Sims 4 will be a SINGLE PLAYER and OFFLINE game. A bit eager, you may argue, but with Maxis’ name currently proving pretty toxic online in the wake of the SimCity debacle, you can’t really blame them.

The Sims 4 is currently bound for PC and Mac in 2014. That’s some way off. It’s almost like Maxis is trying to curry favour with such an early announcement…

Personalisation looks to play a big part in the experience with a new suite of tweaking tools and the option to share creations with friends [gulp] over the internet.

As a thank you for the support of the more than 30m fans that share and discuss stories about The Sims across global social networks, a special VIP briefing was held this morning where several of the world’s top fans were amongst the first to hear the news about The Sims 4,” EA added.

This select group was the first in the world to hear from the creative team for The Sims 4, and they will receive special access to the development team as the game progresses.”

Lucky them.

In the mean time Maxis has confirmed it intends to release another patch for SimCity to correct the traffic problems caused by the most recent patch that itself was designed to correct, amongst other things, the traffic problems. Did we mention that The Sims 4 will be single player and offline?
