Lenovo is now the world’s second biggest PC manufacturer

Chinese manufacturer Lenovo has surpassed Dell to become the world’s number two PC maker according to data from research analysts IDC and Gartner.

IDC data reported that the firm shipped 12.6 million units in the last quarter, capturing 13.7 per cent market share. Lenovo boss Yuanqing Yang said the firm exhibited "incredible marketplace momentum" in overtaking two competitors in the space of half a year.

"This is the highest rank Lenovo has achieved in worldwide PC sales and, given the current competitive environment, positions the company as a strong challenger to ultimately become the global market leader," said Yang.
